New Version of iTunes Has Podcast Features
With the new version of iTunes that was released today, you can now browse and subscribe to Podcasts from within the iTunes Music Store. Podcasts are frequently updated radio-style shows downloadable over the Internet. You can also transfer podcasts to an iPod, for listening on the go.The new version of iTunes 4.9, has 3 main goals:
- take Podcasts "mainstream"
- simplify the process of locating relevant Podcasts
- make the process of subscribing to a Podcast a one-click action
This news comes fresh on the heels of Apple announcing an exclusive Podcasting deal with the Sundance Channel a couple weeks ago. This deal with the Sundance Channel is likely only one of many with major content providers. It's about time Apple took advantage of the growing Podcasting phenomenon that started over a year ago.

The podcast directory doesn't seem to work - it just takes you to the iTMS and there's no mention of podcasts on it here in the UK.
It's installed, and seems to work as expected.
There's a new item in preferences for podcasts, allowing you to check for new episodes at set intervals, set which ones are uploaded to an iPod, and it gives you the option to delete old podcasts or keep them.
Nice!

When it comes to so-called heavy metal supergroups, a lot of them usually don’t last long. But for New Orleans’ Down – made up of Ex-Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, Corrosion of Conformity guitarist Pepper Keenan, Crowbar guitarist Kirk Windstein, and Eyehategod drummer Jimmy Bower – there has been something special that has kept them unified for over 15 years.
