Here's a sample: "Yes, it really happened, and I'd rather not go into it right now. It was submerged in water for 3-4 seconds, and now the screen is on and not responding. It's making a little sound like it's still running.
I tried opening it but couldn't get the case open except for a corner. SOMEONE HELP! 15GB new iPod. What a shame."

I dropped my ipod down the toilet just yesterday. It was in there for around two-three seconds. I dried it off and a lot of water came out of hte eraphone socket. However, luckily it worked straight away (even the backlight)! Then, after about one minute it went off and wouldn't come back on for hours. Water seeped behind the screen, then as it was in my warm packet there was also condensation behind the screen. After only havving the ipod for about three weeks I nearly cried. When I got home I balanced the ipod near my radiator (not touching it though) ans then went to work. When I retured after about 5 or 6 hours it worked perfectly. It just had to dry out. I will update soon if anything else happens to it and it breaks down. Hopefully not though. Thank you God. x
I went to bed last night to wake up to my horror this morining! Looking at my ipod all i could see was a waterlogged screen! it was still working, even with water floating bout inside, after a while this condensed, now all i see is the mist! a shrouded plague over my life! LOL hopwfully i can get it to go away with the good ol radiator trick! however as a result of its experience the MENU button on the click wheel no longer works! what can i do? nightmare!
I think we should form a club or something! I was drank on Sunday night infect so drunk I dropped my ipod to the toilet.
I almost kill myself.

my story so far: tonight, like 2 hours ago I dropped my ipod in the toilet. I placed the dead thing next to the heater to turn the water into steam. I designed a head for my vacuum cleaner with duck tape so that it'll suck directly from the earphone jack and the usb/firewire port without having pressure lost. once the ipod was nice and hot I placed the vacuum on the right place and turned it on. didn't work. left it longer next to the heater and retried. didn't work. opened the thing using a L1 Dunlop USA guitar pick, unplugged the battery and the hard drive, placed the opened thing next to the heater 20 mins. put it back together, plugged it to my pc and works fine now. oh wait, the click wheel just stopped working. I'll see what I can do. oh wait, I just turned the hold thing on and back off and the click wheel started working again perfectly. as you can see Im still playing around with my charging ipod. hope its ok tomorrow and the day after and so on.
AHH!!! SOMEONE HELP ME. This morning, I was washing my face, and I reached for the towel while I was listening to my mini, and then it DROPPED into the toilet!!! It was in there for 3-5 seconds. I quickly grabbed it out (yeah, I know) and dried it off. I shook it to make the water come out, which a lot did. The screen had water inside of it, and I let that just evaporate. I had a plane to catch that day, so my ipod was waterlogged for about.. 15 hours? On the plane, my ipod finally turned on, but gave me a apple icon, then a sad ipod icon, then the folder with the exclamation point. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?! I've only had my baby for 2-3 months. =(
HELP ME!
HELP ME!
oh yeah. I also tried charging it after I dropped it in.. BIG MISTAKE. ARRGH. Now theres a clicking sound in it, and I can hear water. =/
I got my mini ipod named korey only 2 months ago for my birthday, and while i was washing my face, it fell into the toilet. i shook it to get as much water out as i could, but there's still water in there. i charged it after shaking it, but only for 3 seconds. this was in the morning, and i had a plane flight, so i left it like this for 15 hours. on the plane, these icons thankfully showed up, which were the apple sign, the sad ipod, and the exclamation folder. theres a whirring sound inside whenever i try to charge it. What should i do?!?! pleasee help. i cannot live without korey. =(
Blow it up with the toilet. C'mon, stop being a damn yuppie and have some fun.
Did you ever blow a toilet up. It's cool.

I would like to leave a message as a reassurance to ipod owners. I dropped my ipod down the toilet last thursday and was absolutely gutted.. but having found this site (which cheered me up!) i left my beloved on the windowsill over a radiator for 4 days and now he is working fine.. hurrah! xxx
I have a problem, I was at a friends house when my ipod was in my pocket head phones a little bit hanging out, I was getting out of the car when the headphones got caught on something and fell in the drain it was raining and it got soaked i took it out it did work at first but now wont work it had been 2 days my parents told me 2 wait 2 days because it might start working I dont think it will thought what should i do?
I ran my Ipod Mini through the washing machine. I took it out and the screen was missing and there was a big hole where the screen should be.
I somehow managed to drop my 30gb 5th gen pride & joy in the toilet on Friday and was amused to find this site and hear how many others had done exactly the same thing!
Fished mine out after about 5 seconds and amazingly it still seemed to be in working order... but while I was drying it out it went completely dead.
Left it on a radiator wrapped in a towel on Friday night... on Saturday morning I plugged it into a charger and got the dreaded "Sad Ipod" icon and a horrible grinding noise coming from the HDD. Not good. I was pretty sure it was dead.
But then I did the towel and radiator routine again overnight on Saturday just to be sure - and on Sunday it started up! All my songs are still there and everything works. It's as if nothing ever happened to it.
So I suppose my advice would have to be:
1) Don't write your pod off until you've given it a proper chance to dry out; and
2) Don't use the thing on the toilet in the first place! I certainly won't be doing it again!

Accidentally dropped my iPod in the toilet today as I was washing my hands. I can't seem to get it open. I shook out all the excess water I could and dried it by the heater/blowdrier. This has not done anything. If anyone has any advice or suggestions, please let me know.
Dropped my iPod in the toilet and tried drying it. Couldn't get the iPod itself open. If anyone has some advice or suggestions, let me know.
Ok, i dropped my iPod (video) in the sink, got it out and it had frozen and ws stuck on some screen that I hadn't seen before. I dried it with a towel and the sign that says it's out of battery came up. So me being stupid I decided to charge it and my dock's speakers started to make cackling noises. I quickly took it off and put it in the boiler room over night and through the rest of the day. It's still showing no signs of life. I think I fried the internals when I tried to charge it... is it dead?
OMG i dropped my iPod Mini in the toilet! :O it was in the toilet for like less than a second! I got it out and tried 2 dry with a towel then i left it n a towel upright 2 try and let the water drain out... is this the right thing to do? OMG IM SO SAD NOW!! PLEASE HELP ME!!! :( :(
T_T i had my ipod nano (a.k.a. my baby) in the pocket of my brand new cargo pants. well i got a stain on the pants so i filled the sink with water and put my pants in the sink to soak. i went to my room and changed my pants then went to scrub the stain out. as i was scrubbing, i noticed a weight in my pockets. i then proceeded to pull my baby out of the pocket and out of its case, unplug the headphones and i tried to dry it off as best as i could with a towel. then i took it off hold and tried to turn it on to no success. i called my sister in tears and asked what to do and she said that when she had dropped her cell phone in the toilet she dried it with the hair dryer so i did that for about 30 min until i had to go to an eye appiontment (while still balling my eyes out of course, how embarrassing). i have been so pissed off and sad and on the verge of crying again because that apple website doesnt do jack sh-uh doesnt do anything to help me solve my probelm. however after reading this i finally have hope that it will work again. thanks for all the advice.
Many electronic devices can be rescued from water immersion if you act quickly. The most important thing to do right away is disconnect the power source. Remove batteries or unplut it immediately. If it was immersed in clean water, a careful dry out is all that may be required. If it was immersed in dirty water, attempt to rinse it as best as you can. Then, shake out excess water, blow into crevasses with a can of air, shop air hose, etc. until no more water droplets come out. Finally, place it in a warm spot, such as NEAR a heater, warm air vent, etc. After 24 hours, apply power and if you are lucky, it will work again. Removing power immediately is most important, because the electrolytic action of electricity, metals and a liquid, causes rapid corrosion of the fine electrical connections.
i accidentally placed my ipod in a cup of water! it was only like an inch, but it was in there for quite a while. i was in the car, 2 hours away from home so i have just been letting it air dry. i was stupid and didnt know not to turn it on so my first reaction was to see if it was working. i have read other places that i just screwed myself when i did that. will it still work even though i tried to turn it on??
Okay, last night my ipod nano fell into the toilet! I grabed it as fast as i could and it had a firewall thing on the screen, so i dryed it off, and plugged it into my computer and it was working fine until i unplugged it.. now the screen is all funny, and the light wouldnt shut off, and i heard clicking noises comming from it all night.. i have it in a drying bag. I tryed to turn it on today but it wouldnt work.. the light flashed but the screen was blank, What should i do????? Help please!!!
yesterday i put my sons brand new i pod through the washing machine!! put it on the boiler for a few hours and miraculously it worked, ear phones and all!! started to check that his pictures were still visible on screen and they were but after a min or so they started to fade out, and the i pod turned off. put it back in boiler cupboard over night to help dry it out completely as i though this would help and checked it this morning, all i have now is a screen full of condensation and a sad face on it!!! is there any hope after the sad face appears? will leave it a couple of days and see what happens but both i and my son are devastated!! pleaselet me know if anybody elses have worked after the sad face appears, and will apple fix it??
I am facing similar situation with my ipod of 2 months :(. But it didnot drop in toilet. I had the Ipod on my table and later I put coke glass next to it. For some stupid reason, the coke seeped out and went into my little Ipod (I know it sounds like wierd Final Destination stuff). I dried it and it doesn't work. All that happens is, the screen flickers and then nothing... I hope it will start working again :(. Any sggestions?
yippee, my ipod works now! Oops sorry see the message above, yes it is the same ipod that "drank" coke. After keeping it dried for a day I got the sad ipod face. By then I lost hope completely. but today it complained about extremely low charge. Once I charged it it looks fine so far since 15 mins. Well its only 15 mins but I am very optimistic it will continue to work. Thank god it didnt die on me.
helpp! a few days ago i dropped my ipod in the toilet.. grr.. and i took it out after like 10 seconds. I dried it off but i didnt blow any air into it because i didn't know if that would be good or bad. I turned it on a few minutes later and it worked fine. When i came back from school i tried to put it on but it wouldn't turn on. I guess i made the mistake of putting it into the charger for a little while... and its been about 4 days and no matter what i do it won't turn on. is there any way i can fix it?!
Yesterday my wife dropped her Video iPod into a sink basin she'd just filled. Luckily it had received a new iFrogz silicone case the day before, so not much water got in, but some did enter thru the headphone port (the phones had pulled loose when she dropped it).
Her iPod still worked, but moisture had got behind the clear front panel and infiltrated the multiple translucent layer between LCD and backlight. I really didn't want to disassemble it, so I fired up our electric blanket, balled up the iPod inside, and let it sit for about 12 hours. Worked like a charm: all the water evaporated without a trace. So...if you've got pure water/condensate inside your iPod, maybe give the electric blanket trick a try!

do i have a chance?
do i have a chance?
So I went swimming with my 5g video iPod when I forgot to take it out of my pocket before getting on my jetski. So drying it out really works? Guess I should give that a try.
My iPod fell in a glass of water for literally 3 to 5 seconds while I was laying out in the sun. It automatically turned off and would not let me turn it back on. I was crushed! My husband ran a hair dryer over it and tried to turn it back on the screen kept fading. I left it alone for about 5 days and I am charging it now and listening to it at the same time, so hopefully it will be good to go. It is a pink Nano and my husband bought it for me for Valentines Day 2007, so I hope that it will continue to work.

ONLY YESTERDAY ! -my ipod was in my pocket and i was about to go to the toilet when i heard something drop. i looked in toilet and saw something lit up so i immediatley grabbed the ipod out- (this was after about 2 seconds at least) i dried it with a towel and put it in the airing cubord. a few hours later i tried turning it on and the screen lit up a little with nothing on it so i put it back in the airing cubord. the next day i went to try and turn it on but still nothing happens. i only got it on the 26th december and is now 13th Jan. my friends ipod went in the washing machine and was ok after a day or 2 so hopefully this should be alright. ANY ADVICE ?
tryt soaking them in rubbing alcohol then letting them dry this pushes all the water out and the alcohol drys faster than the water
