Apple Event Lacks Wow
The speculation is over. Those of us expecting touch-screen iPods, PDAs, Apple phones or even an Apple TiVo were left a little disappointed.Taking the stage at today's announcement, CEO Steve Jobs said, "We've got some fun things to introduce today. Sort of medium-scale things."
As soon as Jobs said "medium-scale things" I knew everyone with high hopes for today's announcement probably felt a pit in their stomach.
After all the hype around Apple's invitation to see some "fun new products," Apple only announced an Intel-based Mac ($799) and a high-end speaker, the iPod Hi-Fi ($349). Apple also announced some expensive leather iPod cases ($99).
Did today's "fun new products" announcement really require a special event? Usually Apple just adds minor new products to their website and issues a few press releases.
Anyone else feel underwhelmed?

I love my Mac, but one problem - how canthis be a "media hub" without some standard audio-out ports to hook it up to a stereo and not to mention no DVR functionality???
The 'old' Mac Mini is slow... I got one a year ago, and upgraded to the 512 RAM. It's still slower than my PC that I built... 5 years prior to getting the Mini. Probably the slowest computer I've owned, actually, and I'm pretty disappointed. I'll probably reinstall the OS sometime soon to see if it helps (gotta admit, it looks pretty easy considering how well user accounts are organized, and how perfectly most of the applications are installed - for those non-Mac people out there, apps are basically packaged files, like zip files, and all of the support files 'drivers' and such, are packed in that same file/folder, so you can just copy to an external drive, reinstall the OS, and drag back into the Applications folder).

Bugs tend to freak us out. Mosquitoes, spiders, wasps, centipedes... you name it. If it crawls, bites or buzzes anywhere near our faces, then we squirm, swat and run. But what's worse than a little bug crawling on or biting you? How about a really, really big one? Here are some of the biggest bugs on Earth. Enjoy!.
