Kentucky Fried iPod Shuffle
Is your iPod broken? Think you can fix it yourself? This story we found on ipastudio.com might change your mind.Someone named Chris T tried to open his broken iPod Shuffle. He's just a project manger with no real engineering experience, but he wanted to give it a try. He grabbed a metal knife and started to pry open the iPod. Apparently he hit a small capacitor or the battery with his knife because "the iPod basically exploded in his face and caught fire." Moments later the room was full of black smoke, sparks and girlish screams. The end result was something that can only be described as a Kentucky Fried Shuffle.
Francis, a friend of Chris T who blogged about this story, feels there are 2 morals or lessons to be learned from this experience:
- Apple made the iPod Shuffle in a way for it not to be opened... there is a reason for this!
- Project Managers should never think of themselves as "Hardware Engineers"

Looks to me as though he must have punctured the battery. This isn't Apple's fault, go blame the dumbass that decided the best way to repair his broken iPod was to randomly jab at it with a knife. If that doesn't do it for you, go complain to battery designers for a battery that holds too much energy in too small a space (they were only trying to give us good battery life). This doesn't mean iPod shuffles are dangerous. Try sticking a screwdriver over your car battery's terminals... I'll bet your car will end up looking a lot like this little iPod.
Sad day for that shuffle.
I love the iPod shuffle, it's the perfect mp3 player for listening to podcasts. I never leave home without my shuffle around my neck.

Wicked Lasers named their new flashlight the TORCH... and for good reason. The "TORCH" is technically a flashlight. It looks like a flashlight. Operates like a flashlight. But this is no ordinary flashlight. The TORCH is so bright that its beam can ignite flammable objects as fast as fire.

In a time when so-called MC's rap about their bank accounts or invent the latest dance craze to sell records, Lupe Fiasco is on the other side of the spectrum. It's refreshing to find a mainstream rapper dealing with non-commercial issues with the passion and sheer lyrical skill that Lupe exemplifies.
