Blockbuster Online Denies Problems
According to bloggers and a flood of angry comments on the Internet, operations at American DVD rental service, Blockbuster Online, have come to a screeching halt. Angry customers are reporting that they have not received movies from their queues for weeks. According to one customer, repeated calls to Blockbuster customer service were fruitless and when he finally did get through, a customer service rep told him that their mail rental system was shut down. However an official spokesperson for Blockbuster denied the existance of any problems when contacted by Ars Technica.com. "We've been continually shipping product. If a customer feels like they are not getting a movie, they should follow up with our customer service. But in terms of product being allocated and shipped, there has been no interruption."
Despite what the spokesperson says, sites like DVDRR.com have been flooded with negative comments like this one from a Blockbuster Online user named Cat: "No dvds have been shipped for over a week despite 3 open slots and 26 available titles in my queue. Emails and phone calls to customer support have not succeeded in getting this resolved, just promises that are not kept. I will be canceling and switching to Netflix."
Is it just a random coincidence that Blockbuster Online users didn't receive any DVDs last month? Or is Blockbuster being less than truthful about possible problems with their rental service? Blockbuster is engaged a tough battle against Netflix, the market leader in online rentals. Admitting to significant service interruptions might persuade users to switch to Netflix.

I haven't had a movie shipped in like 10 days, and just today finally they sent out two dvd's, lol, guess 3 couldnt make it out of my queue of like 40 movies.
I had sent them 2 emails, and they responded back with some stupid crap saying even though titles say available means they might not be available and such, and said please have 30-40 titles in your queue at all times. its ridiculous, i even told them i would probably switch to netflix.

I agree! On Saturday I dropped off 4 movies in the store. Due to the frustration with their service I signed up for Netflix on Sunday. Guess what, on Tuesday I had 3 movies from Netflix in my mail. However, not even a single movie from Blockbuster. On Wednesday I received the first 2 DVDs from Blockbuster. Online it stated that I should receive one more on Thursday and the last one on Friday. That’s just ridiculous. And by the way, the selection in the store sucks. So what good are all the free rentals that they give you through Total Access, if they don’t have any good movies. Most likely I will cancel my Blockbuster subscription soon!

currently im signed up for both and find BOTH services are severely lacking. Being a loyal netflix subscriber from the beginning - I still love the service. Far surpassing all the others I have tried, including Blockbuster. But lately Netflix has been lax on sending the newest movies, I still receive my movies in 2 days but trying to get the more popular movies is becoming harder and harder. Now, with Blockbuster, I find there service to be MUCH better than it was a year ago. I am receiving my movies faster but lately I have noticed a long delay in sending and receiving. The 2 redeeming factors for both are these - Blockbusters new service that allows me to return a movie IN STORE for another movie ROCKS - the only problem is there seems to be an issue with the employees checking the movie in - I had to report a problem with my movie, but will be trying it again tonight - Babel and Flags of our fathers are now on hold (Both very difficult to get from either service currently) The other factor is this - Netflix Watch Now feature - currently the selection is abysmal and the resolution is horrendous but it is a step forward in the right direction, where blockbusters service to return IN STORE is at this time a great idea but when they have to ultimately close more stores, where will you return them too?
I had Netflix and they did have a faster turnaround time but you can't beat the exchange at the store bit that blockbuster has. Especially if you like renting TV Series on DVD. I take one mailer to the BB store and exchange it for the entire box set of whatever show I want... If I put the series in the queue online, they would send me one disc at a time. A sweet little loophole...
I recently cancelled my account with Blockbuster because of misrepresentation and poor customer service. To add insult to injury, after I cancelled my account they charged me for a movie they said that they did not recieve.
I wish to cancel my account with Blockbuster Online immediately as of today 05/16/08, I do not wish to order anymore movies online. If I so wish I'll visit the neighborhood Blockbuster store which is conveniently located and do so there. Please confirm & respond immediately. If I receive any future charges on my account I will most certainly dispute them!
Don't switch to netflix....they are so much worse than Blockbuster online. At least you can get through to customer service with blockbuster.

Wicked Lasers named their new flashlight the TORCH... and for good reason. The "TORCH" is technically a flashlight. It looks like a flashlight. Operates like a flashlight. But this is no ordinary flashlight. The TORCH is so bright that its beam can ignite flammable objects as fast as fire.
