Sony Adds TV Shows to iTunes

Last week Sony Pictures Television made its programming available for the first time in Apple's iTunes Store (US).

Episodes from current shows "'Til Death" and "Rules of Engagement" as well as from classic series including "Starsky & Hutch," "Charlie's Angels," and "NewsRadio" were added to iTunes' offerings for $1.99 each.

Season 1 from Spiderman, the animated series, was also added to iTunes. The series features Neil Patrick Harris (Starship Troopers, Doogie Howser), Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills 90210) and singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb.

Honestly I'm a little surprised that there wasn't more announcements the past few weeks, given the release of the Apple TV.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for HBO content and WWE content. It's great, with iTunes you can give a big F-U to the cable companies and still download stuff legally, and still save money.

I look forward to true HD content, but who has that much hard drive space? The iTunes episodes are 640X480 currently and are around 500 megs each. Bump that up to 1280x720 res and you are near, if not over, 2 gigs per episode. Now this is just your average 42 minute(1 hour broadcast) show. A 2 hour movie could break 5 gigs.

A 250 gig hard drive totally devoted to iTunes content would hold roughly 20 movies and 75 tv episodes.

Unless you've got 500 gigs of space or more, you're not going to have a very big library of content to watch. And that's not even accounting for backing all that content up.

Thank you so much for providing this.
I am sure that it will be very helpful for many peoples.
