Radiohead Says Name Your Own Price for New Album
This is an excellent idea, but would not work with many bands. With Radiohead we are basing our purchase on brand recognition. Some people are going to pay them 10$ or 15$ simply because they know what, within reason, they will be getting, sight unseen. With newer bands especially this is an impossible business model.
i put in $1.
To be fair, there has only been one Radiohead song I've ever liked, 'Talk Show Host' (on the remake of Romeo and Juliet). If this proves to be a good album, then I'll support them more later on.
I just love to be a part of this new system. :) F-ck the RIAA, support your artists directly (coming from a musician, as well), yarr.

Considering that artists only make about 12 cents a song for downloads on iTunes, even if you pay 1 pound (about $2) Radiohead will still come out ahead.
