Cambodia Toilets [pic]
Check out this warning sign from a public toilet in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Obviously people in Cambodia are not used to Western toilets.

Laugh all you want, but these signs are actually pretty important. If Cambodians use their "traditional method" on this style of toilet, they can slip and hurt themselves.
Wonder if they need to add a 2nd step to this diagram.

I made a similar pair of illustrations for use in Vancouver Community College, in the late 80's. We had a large number of ESL students from south-east Asia, at the time, and these signs helped them come to grips with life in a new culture. As you might expect, they were immediately purloined as collectors' items by the locals!

no, obviously not. And neither are you ignorant people used to any other culture than your own. Get a clue. People in Asia use a squat toilet and yes, they do sometimes squat on a 'western' toilet. Get over it. Why should other countries be 'used' to YOUR way of life???
i am guessing you are American....

Being from somewhere else is no excuse for standing on a toilet seat. From what I've read, squat toilet users aren't all that handy at using their squatters, either;they apparently quite frequently miss them and get feces and urine all over the stalls. I frankly can't see why some tout public squat toilets as more sanitary; apparently the plumbing, if any, is horrendous(japan excepted);they are not cleaned regularly or with any vigor, and people don't wash their hands with soap and water after wiping with no toilet paper (and don't tell me that using cold, plain water that you've been advised NOT TO DRINK is any safer. ) It isn't any wonder that infectious waterborne diseases plague these countries.
laugh at this kinda sig? you are weird. different people, different way of life. different country and different culture.
