Rumor: MacBook Touch Coming in October
What would happen if an iPod Touch mated with a MacBook?According to AppleInsider, Apple is releasing a touchscreen laptop in October. Of course it's still just a rumor, but a lot of people are very excited about finally getting their hands on a Mac touchscreen tablet.
Can this Photoshopped mockup become a reality?
The "MacBook Touch" is rumored to have the following features:
- iPhone-like full-featured multi-touchscreen.
- Full version of Mac OS X. This might help explain why Apple bought chip design company P.A. Semi in April 2008.
- Slot-loading SuperDrive.
- Same accelerometer technology used in the iPod Touch and iPhone.
- GPS.
AppleInsider also reports that at the most recent earnings talk, Apple promised a product transition by the end of September with "technologies and features that others can't match."
Is the MacBook Touch the "product transition" Apple was talking about? We can't wait for more details to emerge that either confirm or negate this juicy rumor.

A tablet-like mac has been in and out of rumors for a long time, and the introduction of multi-touch has continued to fuel it. Regardless, I still hope it's true this time..
If Apple were really smart they would make the tablet run both the iPhone OS as well as Leopard. The iPhone OS and App metaphor could address the needs of the millions of technically challenged people who find any desktop based OS to complicated.
