CNN's Rick Sanchez uses Twitter to Spread Gustav Conversations
This past weekend, as Hurricane Gustav was threatening New Orleans, CNN reporter Rick Sanchez was using social media while broadcasting via traditional media.Rick setup his own Twitter page @ricksanchezcnn (here's a 101 tutorial on Twitter if you are unfamiliar with the service) and was on the air reporting on Gustav and answering "tweets" from viewers in the hurricane zone during the weekend primetime edition of CNN Newsroom.
Rick's efforts have been so successful, CNN decided to give him his own Twitter focused show called Rick Sanchez Direct. According to one of Rick's recent tweets, the show will "play off" what he's been doing online with social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

Snachez used Twitter on both the Saturday and Sunday episodes of CNN Newsroom last weekend. Here are the ratings:
- The Saturday CNN Newsroom episode where Snachez first used Twitter on the air was the most watched and highest rated of all newscasts on all networks during that time period.
- CNN Newsroom (Saturday) was also the most-watched CNN program of the day for the P25-54 segment with 602,000 average viewers.
- CNN Newsroom (Sunday, 11pm) was the #1 cable program in its time period.
The first episode of Rick Sanchez Direct airs Sept 8th at 3pm on CNN.

I've been following since Rick sanchez start doing (Twitter on air)...it's cool to watch, sometimes he gets hundreds of followers per hour (when he's on the air).

I think the GOP ticket should be changed to Palin/McCain. Have you noticed that when she is introducing McCain, reprising her acceptance speech, the crowd roars "Sarah, Sarah, Sarah" waving Palin banners while McCain stands sheepishly smiling by her side. Talk about celebrity!!!
Seems that she will be the first female president - watch out Hilary

I love Rick's new show-just wish he could be on more!I am so glad that CNN realized what a good journalist he is.I will stick with them now!
Hey Rick. I am new to this...but I want to ask some one, any one, who the heck is the man who is laughing in those AIG hearings today...I saw it on CNN today. They were talking about why so much money, thousands of dollars, were being spent at a spa for massages and pedicures and hairstyles etc. etc....thousands of dollars. The gentleman was reading them off and the man from AIG or some other corporation was laughing; smiling and joking. i want to know who that man is and how the heck he thinks taking America down the drain is funny.
to: @ricksanchezcnn, Great Job! About the campaign, I think it started to get nasty (ugly) since the day McCain brought Palin into the equation… Look back into the past months and you will see…
Rick, I just heard the terrible story of the young hispanic youth that was sodomized in Texas. This story should of been national news. The Hispanic community needs someone that is outspoken like Al Sharpton to protest such heinous crimes by these idiots.
President Barrack is missing avery important part of the circus, and that is throwing more money into the same hands, there are a lot of Madoffs in the system, what are wegoing to say when the next Madoff shows up, it started with Enron, we said the same thing as we are saying, while blue collars continue their vacation laughing at the poor stupid americans being misled by all their elected blind leaders.
