Restart a Frozen iPhone or iPod
Is your iPod or iPhone frozen? This can happen for a number of reasons and does not necessarily indicate a serious problem. Sometimes they just need a restart much like the way your computer needs a reset once in a while.Restarting an iPod or iPhone is a simple procedure that will not erase any of your music, data files, or customized preferences.
Tutorial: How to Restart a Frozen iPod or iPhone
Sometimes the iPhone just gets confused. For example, the iPhone may be powered on but it won't respond to any button, switch, or touchscreen input. Try pressing and holding the Home button on the front of the iPhone for 6 seconds until the active program closes.
If this technique does not resolve the issue or the iPhone is in a different state such as showing a persistent Apple logo on the display, then you should reset the iPhone.

Last night my iPhone turned itself off and wouldn't restart, it had just given me the 20% battery warning so I thought it might just need recharging. But. when I plugged it in to the charger...nothin. No bleep, no apple, no green battery. I triple checked the connection and the outlet and still nothing. It sat overnight and in the morning I plugged it in to my computer. It registered on iTunes as a device but it still had nothing on the screen. A couple hours later I called tech support and while I was on the phone with them it turned on while it was just sitting there. You see, all it took was spending the time getting them on the phone and explaining the dilemma brought my iPhone back to life. Go figure. It's just like going to the bathroom at a restaurant to make your food come to the table!

You guys are geniuses! My computer did crash and I lost all my Ipod music on my PC. I had it all on my ipod but no idea what to do next. I came across your site and gave it a shot. I followed your directions..... the heavens opened and angels sang! It worked! Thanks!

does anyone know how to fix a 5th generation ipod clasic if it has stuck on the conect to mains power image after reseting itself
