The timeless holiday film, A Christmas Story, is full of plenty of classic scenes like the Chinese turkey, Ralphie's Black Bart fantasies, the schoolyard flag pole and last but not least... the infamousLeg Lamp.
It took about 20 years, but now you too can own the coveted Leg Lamp. And you don't even have to win a contest like the Old Man to get one. They sell the damn things on Amazon.com, and they even come in multiple sizes!
Requirements:
electricity
a light bulb
a sense of humor
'A Christmas Story' on DVD (optional)
Leg Lamp Sizes
The standard Leg Lamp is 20" inches tall. This half-scale reproduction of the Leg Lamp from the classic 1983 movie A Christmas Story isn't completely accurate, but for a mere $40 bucks it's probably close enough for most fans. And honestly, it's smaller scale will be more apt to blend in with the average living room.
How big is 20" inches? To help put that in perspective, ask yourself: "How big is my computer's screen?" The average computer monitor is about 17" from corner to corner. If 20" inches is too small for you, there's a full size Leg Lamp on Amazon.com for $200. If 20" is too big, there's also a much smaller nightlight version which makes a great gag gift.

Fra-gee-lay
Regardless of the size of your Leg Lamp, it's sure to draw smiling comments from friends and family. Just don't take it to work. Otherwise HR might want to have a "talk" with you.
The Leg Lamp makes a great gift. It's fun, affordable (at least the smaller versions are), and adds a touch of class/fun to any room. If only Amazon.com would mark the outside of the package FRAGILE so you too could experience a nostalgic moment and slowly say "Fra-gee-lay" to everyone within earshot.
NERD
NOTE: The piece of music that plays after Ralphie says "fudge", and after the Leg Lamp breaks for the second time, is the opening of "Hamlet" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

But this is no ordinary flashlight. The TORCH is so bright that its beam can ignite flammable objects as fast as fire.
