The Photonic Disruptor is not your ordinary laser pointer. It's actually classified as a non-lethal weapon. Wicked Technology, the creators of the Photonic Disruptor, designed it to help military and law enforcement stun potential targets dead in their tracks. The beam of this laser is so bright, that even brief eye contact will leave you stunned and temporarily blinded.
So what can you do with a "laser weapon"? Since MethodShop.com readers live everywhere from military bases in Iraq, to suburbia, its practical uses will vary greatly from user to user. But from the battlefield to boardroom, this this tactical laser will leave anyone within eyesight totally stunned.
Requirements:
2 AAA batteries
Opposable Thumb
Aim
Non-Lethal Military Grade Laser Weapon
Compared to other Wicked Technology products, like the Nexus and TORCH, the Photonic Disruptor laser was not created to burn things. It is a non-lethal weapon used to stun threats for military and law enforcement. The Photonic Disruptor is officially classified as a TALI (Threat Assessment Laser Illuminator) and was even featured in an episode of the Discovery Channel show "Future Weapons.” For users looking to mount the Photonic Disruptor to a rifle, the laser weapon is equipped with versatile focus-adjustable collimating lenses to compensate for range and power intensity.
NERD
NOTE: The term "laser" is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
Rugged Waterproof Design
Because the Photonic Disruptor was designed with military and law enforcement in mind, Wicked Technology had to make it rugged and waterproof. Not only is the entire casing covered in rugged plastic, but the end cap (battery cover) has a rubber ring that seals off the battery chamber and ensures that no internal parts are affected.
We submerged the Photonic Disruptor in a glass bowl and the laser didn't lose any intensity. As seen in the video below it shines on, like the moon and the stars and the sun. Kind of like a John Lennon song.
Brightness
The Photonic Disruptor is extremely bright, especially in dark or low light environments. But day or night, dark or bright, anyone who catches an eye socket full of Photonic Disruptor will be temporarily blinded. Gazing into the beam of the Photonic Disruptor is like staring at the sun.
What's In the Box
The Photonic Disruptor comes in a nice little black storage box with a magnetic sealing lid. Included with the laser is a warning sticker and power measurement data-testing sheet. The moment you pick up this laser for the first time, you'll notice the hefty-weight, rubber sealed coating and thick durable lens.
Testing It Out
Here are some pictures and videos of various tests we did with the Photonic Disruptor:
Urban Landscape Test
One of the best ways to test the Photonic Disruptor is to activate the laser from an elevated position. Standing on the balcony of a 45th floor apartment, we could see the green spot and beam nearly 3 miles away. And that's with fog, smog, and tons of city lights.
With the help of some friends on the other end, we were able to shine the laser 17 blocks into an apartment 1.3 miles away and see a green dot on their wall. We did this while on our cell phones and both apartments burst into cheers once we successfully connected with each other via laser beam. It was tons of fun.
We also had one of our staffers cruise down to a local park about a mile away from the laser. Once again we activated the laser and he could see the light on the ground as well as the entire beam. At a mile away, the light created a point approximately the size of a half dollar on the sidewalk.
Burn Test
In the documentation for the Photonic Disruptor, Wicked Technology clearly states that the purpose of this product is to stun targets for military and law enforcement, not burn stuff. But in the past, we've reviewed several Wicked Technology products that are capable of igniting flammable materials. So we at least had to we had to give it a try. All attempts failed.
The Photonic Disruptor features longer battery life, an adjustable lens, waterproof casing and increased durability... not cigarette lighting. If you're looking to burn stuff then try other Wicked Technology products like the Nexus or TORCH.
The Pigeon Test
For our next test, we targeted two pigeons on the fire escape of a building about 300 feet away. Several attempts to dislodge the pigeons from their perch were unsuccessful. Unfortunately, pigeons seem immune to almost anything that could potentially disrupt their attempts to take over the city.
WARNING: Do
NOT use your Wicked Laser anywhere near an airport or airplane.
These lasers have a range of 10 miles or more and can blind
or distract pilots. Causing interference to an American aircraft is a
federal offence that carries mandatory jail time.
Battery Life
"It's better to burn out than fade away" is a famous lyric from a Neil Young song called "My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)." This lyric is very fitting when it comes to high-powered lasers and battery life.
Before you run off to perform your own "tests" with the Photonic Disruptor, grab a handful of AAA batteries. The Photonic Disruptor requires 2 AAA batteries and the maximum amount of time you'll get out of each pair of batteries is 90 minutes. This is much higher compared to other Wicked Technology products, but you'll probably want to have some spare batteries just in case. Also note, you'll see the best results from your laser within the first 15 to 30 mins.

Everyday Uses
But what if you're not a soldier or police officer. Are there everyday uses for the Photonic Disruptor? Yes. Have you ever tried to give a presentation with a laser pointer in a bright room? Or maybe you work in construction and need to point out specific areas to workers during daylight. The average laser won't be visible in bright or daylight situations. But the Photonic Disruptor doesn't have this problem. Even in direct sunlight, this laser will still be completely visible.
From a university lecture hall to a construction site, the Photonic Disruptor Series laser from Wicked Technology will be directing people's attention in the right direction.
